Miss Blackburn’s class spent the two days before Thanksgiving learning about Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. They learned the history behind the parade, about the man who started it, and how the balloons were made. They then spent time designing and creating their own balloons. Once the balloons were finished, they partnered up with Miss Grimaldo‘s class and Miss Rogers’ class and had their very own Thanksgiving parade. They had a blast!

Today we are thankful for our school family and the memories we make at our Cardinal Connection Convocations.
Farmers (in the green) have been trying to stop the turkeys from getting the food all week long. It is a great way to bring in Thanksgiving. We talk about what Thanksgiving is about and what foods we may eat for dinner that day. We also talk about our family traditions.
Miss Rodriguez’s fourth-grade class brought Earth's history to life by creating 3-D dioramas of rock layers. This hands-on project helped students explore patterns in rock formations and fossils, supporting their understanding of how landscapes change over time 🦖

Students in Mr. Zvers's class work together to research an animal by utilizing non-fiction books found in our library. This activity promotes teamwork and allows students to distinguish fact from fiction. Students will share their findings with the class and present a custom-made poster.
Columbia teachers are having a blast participating in an underground spirit week! Today was "anything but a cup"!

Happy World Kindness Day!
We began a new initiative at school today. There are large letters (C.E.S.) displayed in the hallway. We will use these letters to create our 'kindness tree,' a visual representation of the kindness we all share. At CES, students and teacher will be adding their school photo to large letters as they witness acts of kindness.
THE BIG IDEA: We are all in this together. Kindness exists within us all. We must constantly retrain our brains to focus on the positive in a world where it is all too easy to focus on the negatives. Showcasing the number of intentional acts of kindness from members of our school family will inspire us all to do more!
